DESIREE
YOGINI
Desiree has spent her entire career serving others. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and spent much of her early career working with individuals who comprise our most vulnerable populations. She began practicing yoga nine years ago while finding joy in dancing and running. After being hit by a car several years ago, she when through many hardships, including how to walk again. During that time, she fully committed herself to continuing to practice yoga to heal her body. From there meditation entered her life and helped to heal her mind and spirit. Her love of others and understanding that everyone requires elf-care in some form set her on a path to becoming a yoga and meditation instructor.
She graduated from OM Ananda Yoga, where she earned both her 200 & 500-level yoga teacher certifications and her meditation teacher certification for both levels 1 & 2.
Filled with the calm and joy that yoga and meditation have brought her, she is grateful to have the opportunity to share that with others regardless of their winding road. In her spare time, Desiree enjoys going from place to place, seeing new things, rock hounding, personal yoga, and meditation practice, and spending time outdoors with her soulmate and her service dog.
MY STORY
I began my journey of Yoga and Meditation as a student almost 10 years ago as a primary tool for my PTSD and spinal issues. While on my life journey, a major tragedy struck. While on my daily run, I was struck by an oncoming motorist, pushed under another vehicle, and left for dead. I stayed under the other motor vehicle for several hours.
My Inner Warrior gave me the strength and courage to overcome the even more complex set of obstacles I faced once I awoke after being left for dead by another motorist. When I awoke, I didn't know what year it was. I had lost almost seven years of memory, suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, Ocular difficulty, loss of teeth, and a right leg that was seized entirely and required spinal surgery.
Once I learned who my family and friends were plus the correct year, I began to learn to walk again. During the two years, it took me to recover from this traumatic experience, I NEVER gave up. My Inner Warrior gave me the strength, courage, compassion, and love for myself to keep on going no matter how difficult.
